The Gibault Catholic Hawks will head out to challenge the Dupo Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gibault Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Gibault Catholic will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating New Athens, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. The Hawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Yellow Jackets on Monday.
Chloe Lancaster made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Gibault Catholic let Lauren Lanham and Claire Kessler run wild. Lanham got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Kessler went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Dupo got the win against Valmeyer on Friday by a conclusive 13-3. Considering the Tigers have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Gibault Catholic, Dupo also got a great game from a two-way player: Kylie Kloess. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Kloess was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Kylie Pierce and Kaitlyn Roberts did most of the damage at the plate: Pierce went 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Roberts went 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Roberts a new career-high. Chloe Thornton was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Dupo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Dupo has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Gibault Catholic, their record now sits at 8-10.
Gibault Catholic suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Dupo when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
