Max Vollmer made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other pitching news, Braden Kemmerer looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Plum got a massive performance out of Ryan Lafferty, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Lafferty has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Timmy Ruggiero, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.
Plum kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Penn Hills only managed three hits.
Plum's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Penn Hills, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.
Penn Hills' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Plum has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .446.
