Decatur Central is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Plainfield just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Quakers.

Decatur Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Dalton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base. Dalton has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.
Brownsburg came out on top against Avon on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Bulldogs walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Orioles. The contest marked the Bulldogs' most dominant win of the season so far.
Ethan Gladstein tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits.
On the hitting side, Ethan Cougill and Canyon Koonce did most of the damage at the plate: Cougill went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while Koonce got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Cougill has posted since back in April. Daniel Phillips was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Brownsburg's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Decatur Central, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Decatur Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Brownsburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Decatur Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Brownsburg in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 9-8. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
