The Berrien Rebels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 15th straight loss. They were beaten by Worth County 66-33. While losing is never fun, Berrien can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 556th, while Worth County is ranked 240th).
Worth County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was ASHTON WILLIAMS out in front who almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, 11 assists, and nine steals. That's the first time this season that WILLIAMS posted eight or more assists. GRANT JUSTER was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Berrien's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-17. As for Worth County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berrien will challenge Jeff Davis at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Worth County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Atkinson County at 5:30 p.m. on January 20th. Atkinson County is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
