The Wylie Bulldogs won the last time they faced the Palo Duro Dons, and things went their way on Friday too. Wylie strolled past Palo Duro with points to spare, taking the game 33-16. Given Wylie's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while Palo Duro is ranked 468th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bryant Meng looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 198 yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Meng was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards.
Despite the loss, Palo Duro saw an underclassman step up: Darien Lewis rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
The victory makes it two in a row for Wylie and bumps their season record up to 7-3. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31 points. As for Palo Duro, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Wylie will head out on the road to face off against Cooper at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cooper will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. As for Palo Duro, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Plainview.
