The Calexico Mission RoadRunners will head out on the road to face off against the Warner Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Calexico Mission came up short against Borrego Springs and fell 50-39.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Leonardo Longino, who scored 15 points. That was a full 38.5% of Calexico Mission's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sergio Jacobo, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Warner was able to grind out a solid victory over Borrego Springs on Friday, taking the game 46-33. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Warner.
Warner's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Omar Acosta led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was David Calac, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Calexico Mission's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Warner, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season.
Calexico Mission might still be hurting after the 72-46 loss they got from Warner in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Warner's Anthony Porras, who scored 16 points along with nine steals and five assists. Now that Calexico Mission knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
