Softball Recap: Cascade Picks Up 11th Consecutive Win

Cascade strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against the Sweet Home Huskies as they made off with a 12-6 win. That's more bragging rights for the Cougars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cascade got a massive performance out of Malia Scanlan, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Scanlan has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cassidy Crabtree, who scored four runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4.

Cascade hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in eight consecutive matches.

Cascade pushed their record up to 11-0 with the victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sweet Home, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.

Cascade and Sweet Home should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Oregon Rankings. The Cougars (ranked 17th) will meet Philomath (ranked 64th) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Sweet Home will take on Newport at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (25 vs. 149).
