The Creek Valley Storm struggled with threes on Friday (the Leyton Warriors had five more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Creek Valley took a 47-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Leyton. Creek Valley has not had much luck with Leyton recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Creek Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lane Brenneman. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 50% of Creek Valley's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Leyton found their leader in underclassman Calvin Borgmann, who scored 14 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Miller, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds and four steals.
Creek Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Leyton, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Creek Valley and Banner County will face off at 6:30 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Creek Valley is ranked 264th, while Banner County is ranked 280th). As for Leyton, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Hyannis on February 3rd. Hyannis is coming into the contest with eight straight wins at home, so Leyton is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
