With a playoff game on the line, the Midland Bulldogs rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 31-21 victory over Americas. Given Midland's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Americas is ranked 302nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Midland's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Americas, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-5.
Midland will take on Byron Nelson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Byron Nelson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten games -- so hopefully Midland likes a good challenge. Americas does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
