It was a good run, but the West Carteret Patriots unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Croatan by a score of 27-25. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points West Carteret has scored all season.
Despite the loss, West Carteret still got an impressive performance from Sam Huber, who scored six points along with six steals. Huber is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Ella Graham was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Croatan got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Landry Clifton out in front who scored nine points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hannah Buchan, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
West Carteret's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7. As for Croatan, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Carteret will take on White Oak at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. White Oak is coming into the matchup with three straight wins on the road, meaning West Carteret will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Croatan, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Dixon at 6:15 p.m. on February 6th. Croatan is facing Dixon at the right time seeing as Dixon is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
