The Cascade Champions will challenge the Columbia Central Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cascade made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Riverdale, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Cascade's pitcher stepped up to hand Riverdale an 11-0 shutout on Monday. The matchup marked the Champions' most dominant victory of the season so far.
The team relied heavily on Makenzie Fisher, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Alivia Fannin, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, Columbia Central put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Spring Hill as Columbia Central made off with a 17-0 win.
Bailey Lovell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Columbia Central let Jayden Pendergast and Molly Underwood run wild. Pendergast went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Underwood went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Underwood is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Paxlee Harris was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Columbia Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Cascade now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Columbia Central, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cascade hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Columbia Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .580. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
