Archbishop Ryan is 8-2 against West Catholic since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Archbishop Ryan Raiders and Ragdolls will head out on the road to face off against the West Catholic Burrs at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Archbishop Ryan has three straight wins, West Catholic has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Thursday, Archbishop Ryan earned a 62-50 victory over Cardinal O'Hara. Given Archbishop Ryan's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Cardinal O'Hara is ranked 137th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Archbishop Ryan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaden Murray, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Murray has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Darren Williams, who scored 22 points.
Meanwhile, West Catholic's 20-10 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 57-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Roman Catholic on Monday.
West Catholic's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Saaid Lee, who scored 16 points, and Tariq-Kobe Jennings who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Waters JR, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Archbishop Ryan is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for West Catholic, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Archbishop Ryan hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 61.7 points per game. It's a different story for West Catholic, though, as they've been averaging only 53.8 points per game. The only thing between Archbishop Ryan and another offensive beatdown is West Catholic. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Archbishop Ryan might still be hurting after the 71-51 defeat they got from West Catholic in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Archbishop Ryan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
