The biggest upset of the week belonged to Torres, who took down 804th ranked Torres, 28-19.
Contreras moved up to 874 from 915 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Central. The Cobras climbed the ranks as a result of a 28-19 win over the Toros.
Belmont's dynamic duo of Dominique Dorsey and Irwin Hernandez proved tough for Bernstein to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Dorsey threw for 119 yards and one touchdown and Hernandez had 83 yards receiving. Adolfo Guerra helped Belmont's passing attack out by catching two balls for 35 yards.
Ronald Clayton was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 27 carries, he ran for 203 yards as Hollywood lost to the Dragons. Teammate Sam Morales added to the ground attack by rushing for 42 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Joey Verduzco of Torres is the league leader in passing yards this season with 605. He has also thrown six touchdowns. On the ground, the Sheiks' Clayton has rushed for 781 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Morales. The Hollywood star has 16 catches for 445 yards.
A big matchup in Central this week will be when Peter Cuevas' team takes on Bernstein. As it stands, the Toros are in fourth, while Masaki Matsumoto's team is in first.
There should be lots of points scored when Torres and the Dragons face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Toros comes in having scored 152 this season, while Bernstein has scored 172. Torres scored 19 points last week as it fell to Contreras.
Manuel Guevara's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,012 from 12,626. The improvement was the result of 28-19 victory over the Toros last week.
