The Southern Valley Eagles struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Tuesday (the Alma Cardinals were 22% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Southern Valley took a 55-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Alma. If Southern Valley hoped to take revenge for the 43-39 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Southern Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Isaac Hamilton, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tylor Grove, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds.
Alma's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zavier Mitchell, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Tucker Biskup, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Southern Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Alma, their win bumped their record up to 14-2.
Southern Valley on the road again on Friday and play against Arapahoe at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Arapahoe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday. As for Alma, they will take on Cambridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cambridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
