Cliffside Park took a 60-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dumont. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cliffside Park in their matchups with Dumont: they've now lost seven in a row.
Cliffside Park lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jerelz Ortiz, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four blocks. Ortiz has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Calabrese, who scored 13 points.
Cliffside Park's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Dumont, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cliffside Park's road trip will continue as they head out to face Ramsey at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Ramsey presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cliffside Park in New Jersey (Ramsey is ranked 21st, while Cliffside Park is ranked 143rd). As for Dumont, they will head out on the road to take on Tenafly at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tenafly and Dumont are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
