Baseball Recap: Indian Creek Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Indian Creek won the last time they faced Harrison Central and things went their way on Friday too. The Redskins put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 9-2 victory. The Redskins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Gavin Pownall was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other pitching news, James Brothers looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

Back at the plate, Hunter Rusnak was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Dom Degruttola was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Indian Creek pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 6.8 runs. As for Harrison Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.

Coming up, Indian Creek will challenge Indian Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Harrison Central, they will square off against Monroe Central at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Huskies are facing the Seminoles at the right time seeing as the Seminoles are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
