It was a good run, but Cooper unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 50-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lutheran South Academy Pioneers. The match was a 25-25 toss-up at halftime, but the Dragons couldn't quite close it out.

Lutheran South Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Annaliese De La Pena, who posted 16 points and four steals. De La Pena is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Olivia Varanauski, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Cooper's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Lutheran South Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cooper will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on St. Andrew's at 3:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Lutheran South Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against St. John XXIII at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
