Softball Recap: Halifax County Has No Trouble Against Bassett

Halifax County's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 18-4 margin over the Bassett Bengals. That 14 run margin sets a new team best for the Comets this season.

Halifax County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Bassett, their loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Halifax County will welcome Chatham at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cavaliers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Comets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bassett, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on George Washington at 5:00 p.m. on the 28th.
