Baseball Recap: Liberty Has No Trouble Against High Point Academy

Liberty never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against High Point Academy on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Grizzlies. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Carson Garrick made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cade Collins was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Liberty: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was T.J. Borow, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as High Point Academy only posted an OBP of .357.

Liberty now has a winning record of 10-9. As for High Point Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8-1.

Liberty has already played their next game, a 13-3 defeat against West-Oak on the 21st. As for High Point Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-3 loss against Landrum on the 22nd.
