Garfield had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 8-13 to make it six. They fell just short of the Brookfield Warriors by a score of 10-9. The G-Men were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 10-7.
Olivia Bailey put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Bailey was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Angel Grace was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Kissell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
As for Brookfield, they now have a winning record of 11-10. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
On Brookfield's side, Madison Obermiyer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on 12 hits.
On the hitting side, Elaina Boyce and Cassi Samios did most of the damage at the plate: Boyce went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Samios went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Samios is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Alana Jervis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As of now, neither Garfield nor Brookfield have any future games scheduled.
