Southwestern Michigan - West recap September 10, 2013
Mattawan's Kyle Hedden rumbled for the longest rushing play in Southwestern Michigan - West this season in his game against Marshall last week. Hedden ran for 75 yards on the play and finished with 160 on the day as his team beat the Redhawks.
St. Joseph scaled the state rankings by moving to 87 from 183 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bears climbed the ranks as a result of beating Harper Creek 14-9.
Lakeshore's dynamic duo of MIKE ADAMS and JOSHUA BUSHU proved to be unstoppable against Gull Lake, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. ADAMS threw for 186 yards and 2 touchdowns and BUSHU had 134 yards receiving. SAM EFFA helped Lakeshore's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 47 yards.
The Lancers' dynamic duo of ADAMS and BUSHU proved tough for the Blue Devils to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
He went 12-15 with 2 interceptions.
BUSHU was the best wideout in the league this week as Lakeshore bested Gull Lake.
ADAMS put up the best numbers in passing as Denny Dock's team beat the Blue Devils.
Hedden was the best running back in Southwestern Michigan - West this week. Hunter Anthony also contributed to the rushing game with 118 yards on the ground.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Lancers' ADAMS and BUSHU have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-0 quarterback ADAMS has thrown for 308 yards this season, while BUSHU has 7 catches for 167 yards. Mattawan's Hedden leads the league in rushing yards with 298.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Lakeshore's BUSHU goes up against St. Joseph's Justin Gambrell.
Next week's game between the Lancers and Gandalf Church's team will feature an aerial matchup as ADAMS tests his arm against Gambrell's defensive ability.
The Bears are currently in first, while Lakeshore is in fourth.
Benton Harbor lost to Lakeview 50-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
