Berkeley Prep extended the longest winning streak in 3A District 5 this week by beating St. Petersburg Catholic, 41-19. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
The Barons made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,073 from 7,497. The improvement was the result of 41-19 victory over St. Petersburg Catholic last week.
Clearwater Central Catholic's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Blake Gomez threw for 97 and two touchdowns and Trey Larry had 70 yards receiving. On the ground Diquan Walker chipped in 104 yards. Troy Olmo helped Clearwater Central Catholic's passing attack out by catching one ball for 12 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Kyle Ploucher of Tampa Catholic is the league leader in passing yards this season with 723. He has also thrown nine touchdowns. On the ground, Berkeley Prep's Chris Williams has rushed for 643 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Bubba Olivera. The Berkeley Prep star has 15 catches for 374 yards.
