Softball Recap: Midwest Central/Illini Central Triumphs

Midwest Central/Illini Central's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Deer Creek-Mackinaw Chiefs. Considering the Raiders' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Midwest Central/Illini Central got a big performance out of Emma Junkin, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Warner, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Midwest Central/Illini Central's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Midwest Central/Illini Central will host Cuba/Spoon River Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.44 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Deer Creek-Mackinaw, they will face off against Fisher at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Chiefs are facing the Bunnies at the right time seeing as the Bunnies are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
