The Oxbridge Academy ThunderWolves will head out on the road to take on the Benjamin Buccaneers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Oxbridge Academy rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles and snuck past 3-2. The victory was just what Oxbridge Academy needed coming off of a 5-2 loss in their prior match.
They hit St. John Paul II Academy with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from
Chris Cano,
Villads Gudbrand, and
Julien Dorsey.
In what's become a running theme this season, Benjamin gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Crescent City a 4-0 shutout. The victory was familiar territory for Benjamin who now have three in a row.
Benjamin used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Crescent City. Three players got more time on the pitch than they're used to: Joshua Luiz (70), Jake Giovani (50), and Desmon Flemming (75). The trio had averaged 39.58, 25, and 35.56 minutes respectively before Tuesday's matchup. The pair took full advantage of the opportunity: Luiz put up an assist, while he put up an assist.
Oxbridge Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6-2 record this season. As for Benjamin, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5-3.
