Loveland is a perfect 4-0 against Bear Creek since June of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Red Wolves will head out on the road to square off against the Bears at 4:00 p.m. Loveland will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Loveland's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Greeley West with a sharp 6-0 victory.
Loveland's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Caden Waldorf, who went 2-for-3 with one run. That's the most hits Waldorf has posted since back in April. Ashton Norvell also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Bear Creek was able to grind out a solid victory over Highlands Ranch on Saturday, taking the game 4-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.
The result came thanks to James Moore's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks. Bear Creek is 2-1 when Moore allows one or fewer hits, but 4-13 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Matt Hegerle was excellent, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Ayden Brown was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Bear Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Loveland pushed their record up to 8-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bear Creek, their record is now 6-14.
Loveland took their win against Bear Creek when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-10 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
