The Lutcher Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the A.J. Ellender Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lutcher is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Lutcher got themselves on the board against Morgan City, but Morgan City never followed suit. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 48-0 victory over the Tigers. Given Lutcher's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Morgan City is ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lutcher can attribute much of their success to Quinn Smith, who rushed for nine yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 171 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Trenton Chaney also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to A.J. Ellender, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They had to suffer through a rough 50-7 loss at the hands of South Lafourche. A.J. Ellender was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-7.
Lutcher's victory bumped their season record to 6-2 while A.J. Ellender's defeat dropped theirs to 0-9.
Everything came up roses for Lutcher against A.J. Ellender in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 55-13 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lutcher since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
