Basketball Recap: Southwest Atlanta Christian Triumphs

Southwest Atlanta Christian lost to Whitefield Academy back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Southwest Atlanta Christian Warriors slipped by the Whitefield Academy WolfPack 46-45. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Southwest Atlanta Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chase Wiggins led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 boards. Wiggins is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Talyn Harris, who went 9 for 15 on his way to 20 points.

Southwest Atlanta Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Southwest Atlanta Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-17 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Whitefield Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-9.

Southwest Atlanta Christian will venture away from home to face off against Lamar County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwest Atlanta Christian is facing Lamar County at the right time seeing as Lamar County is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Whitefield Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Landmark Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Landmark Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Whitefield Academy likes a good challenge.
