The Monroe Central Golden Bears will face off against the Adams Central Flying Jets at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Monroe Central will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Wes-Del on Thursday. The Golden Bears put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 17-1 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Golden Bears as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Caleb Luedike made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has become a key player for Monroe Central: the team is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Luedike was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Carter Duncan was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last 11 games. Levi Pence was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs.
Monroe Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Adams Central came out on top against Southern Wells on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Flying Jets blew past the Raiders 13-1. With that win, the Flying Jets brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.
Cade Van De Weg spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Adams Central got a massive performance out of Hayden Bluhm, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those RBI were Bluhm's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Joey Everett, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
The victory got Monroe Central back to even at 6-6. As for Adams Central, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Monroe Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Adams Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
