The Lyndhurst Golden Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season. They breezed by Wood-Ridge at home to the tune of 58-20. The victory was just what Lyndhurst needed coming off of a 50-28 loss in their prior game.
Lyndhurst's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Asya Akar led the charge by scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Mayer, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Lyndhurst is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Wood-Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lyndhurst will take on Harrison at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Harrison has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 16. As for Wood-Ridge, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Hasbrouck Heights at 4:00 p.m. Hasbrouck Heights and Wood-Ridge are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
