The biggest upset of the week belonged to Stone, who took down 132nd ranked Stone, 28-14. Stephen Stewart ran for 95 yards in the win.
Leonardtown was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 10th to seventh in Southern Maryland. Earlier in the week, the Raiders triumphed over the Cougars 28-14.
Jermaine Hunter provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Calvert defeated La Plata. He completed four passes for 126 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 215 yards. Hunter's favorite target this week was Mikey Bowen, who caught two passes for 83 yards.
Zach Piazza put up the best numbers through the air as Huntingtown beat Lackey. He finished with a total of six completions for 123 yards and three touchdowns. Piazza's favorite target this week was Bryan Rawlings, who caught three passes for 71 yards.
James Harrell was the best wideout in the league this week as McDonough topped Great Mills. Harrell tallied five receptions for 128 yards. Joshua Teachey helped McDonough's passing attack out by catching one ball for 61 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Brandon Battle of North Point is the league leader in passing yards this season with 635. He has also thrown seven touchdowns. On the ground, Chopticon's Kyle Barber has rushed for 609 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Harrell. The McDonough star has 13 catches for 321 yards.
A big matchup in Southern Maryland this week will be when the Hurricanes take on the Eagles. As it stands, Huntingtown is in third, while North Point is in fourth.
Leonardtown moved up to 116 from 150 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Michael Nines's team was able to make the jump by beating Stone 28-14.
