The Bishop Rosecrans Bishops will be taking part in a tournament against the Tuscarawas Central Catholic Saints at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Bishop Rosecrans has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Bishop Rosecrans gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Miller 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Bishops in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won nine in a row.
Jacobie Balo made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one stolen base.
Balo wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Perdue, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another was Haiden Omen, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Bishop Rosecrans hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Miller struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, Tuscarawas Central Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 40th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Claymont, falling 17-4.
Dylan Dumermuth was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Bishop Rosecrans' victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Tuscarawas Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 0-21.
Tuscarawas Central Catholic's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bishop Rosecrans has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. It's a different story for Tuscarawas Central Catholic, though, as they've only averaged .284. Will they be able to contain Bishop Rosecrans' hitters?
Bishop Rosecrans took their win against Tuscarawas Central Catholic when the teams last played back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 13-3 score. Will the Bishops repeat their success, or do the Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
