The Simeon Wolverines lost against the Taft Eagles back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Simeon took a serious blow against the Eagles, falling 54-21. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Simeon has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Simeon saw an underclassman step up: Mariyah Robinson scored three points along with seven steals and six rebounds.
Grace Brumley continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Taft, scoring 23 points. Another player making a difference was Emily Chavez, who scored four points along with five assists and three steals.
Simeon now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Taft, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season.
Simeon will be playing in front of their home fans against the Raptors at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Rich Township presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Wolverines in Illinois (the Raptors are ranked 142nd, while the Wolverines are ranked 309th). As for Taft, they will head out on the road to face off against the Broncos at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Kenwood is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
