The Wilburton Diggers will head out on the road to take on the Henryetta Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wilburton is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Wilburton is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 34-7 victory over Atoka. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
09/26/25 vs Atoka | 137 |
09/19/25 vs Panama | 249 |
09/12/25 @ Hartshorne | 123 |
08/29/25 @ Gore | 234 |
11/08/24 @ Morris | 311 |
Jason Wilkett had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 137 yards and three scores, while also catching one TD. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 123 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Braiden Grossnicklaus, who threw for 85 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wilburton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 243 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 171 rushing yards in five consecutive games dating back to last season.
Wilburton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Troy Johnston and Roman Brinlee.
Meanwhile, Henryetta beat Morris 35-26 on Friday. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Henryetta's win came from a few key players Wilburton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nakona Johnson, who threw for 175 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 63 yards and one score. Will Perez was another key player, gaining 132 total yards and a touchdown.
Wilburton's record is now 4-0. As for Henryetta, their record now sits at 3-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Wilburton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 242.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Henryetta struggles in that department as they've been averaging 172.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Wilburton couldn't quite get it done against Henryetta in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 as they fell 25-12. Thankfully for the Diggers, Jason Powders (who rushed for 218 yards and one touchdown while picking up 13.6 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
