The El Modena Vanguards will challenge the Pacifica Mariners at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. El Modena is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
On Wednesday, El Modena beat Canyon 4-1.
Ashley Driskill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Parker Mayes and Lucy Mitchell did most of the damage at the plate: Mayes got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, while Mitchell went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles Mitchell has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Alatorre, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pacifica, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Cypress by a score of 4-1 on Thursday. The Mariners haven't had any issues with the Centurions recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Pacifica also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Shay Kletke gave up only one earned run on six hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jenna Valladares, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one double. Leyla Ayres was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.
Pacifica's win bumped their record up to 16-10. As for El Modena, their victory bumped their record up to 15-12.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. El Modena hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Pacifica struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
El Modena couldn't quite get it done against Pacifica when the teams last played back in April as they fell 3-0. Will the Vanguards have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
