Basketball Recap: Wyatt Rickard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Carlisle County over Ballard Memorial

If Carlisle County was riding high fresh off their 82-48 takedown of Fulton City last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Carlisle County Comets took a 61-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ballard Memorial Bombers on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Comets of the 62-54 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Carlisle County's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wyatt Rickard, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. The game was Rickard's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Kylen King, who went 5 of 12 to rack up 14 points.

Carlisle County's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Ballard Memorial, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Carlisle County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-62 loss against Paducah Tilghman on the 8th. As for Ballard Memorial, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 77-75 win against Massac County on the 8th.
