4A Region II District 16 recap October 29, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Lindale, who defeated 511th ranked Corsicana, 42-26.
The Eagles moved up to 481 from 542 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region II District 16. Lindale climbed the ranks as a result of defeating the Tigers 42-26.
Patrick Mahomes threw for 274 yards and 2 touchdowns. He went 19-38 with 0 interceptions.
Jake Parker was the best wideout in the league this week as Whitehouse defeated Nacogdoches. Parker tallied 5 receptions for 136 yards. Ryan Cheatham helped Whitehouse's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 33 yards.
The Wildcats' Mahomes and Parker have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Mahomes has thrown for 2,926 yards this season, while Parker has 46 catches for 942 yards. Geovari McCollister from Tyler leads the league in rushing with 710 yards.
Going into this week's game against the Dragons, the Lions' McCollister needs 28 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. Accruing a total of 17 touchdowns this year, McCollister has thrown for 1,972 yards with 5 interceptions.
Parker of the Whitehouse's is a few catches away from breaking 1,000 yards for the season. He needs only 58 receiving yards in this week's game against Corsicana to get there. So far this year, he has garnered 46 catches for 942 yards.
A big matchup in 4A Region II District 16 this week will be when Tyler takes on Nacogdoches. Ricklan Holmes' team is currently in second, while Bobby Reyes' team is in third.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Adam Cook's team beat the Dragons 43-21. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
