The Newport Buffaloes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 51-38 to Juniata. If Newport hoped to take revenge for the 37-28 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
When it comes to explaining why Newport lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tyler Gardner. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gardner has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ruben Moreno, who scored six points.
Newport has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Juniata, they now have a winning record of 7-6-1.
Newport will be playing at home against Harrisburg Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Harrisburg Christian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.5 points per game. As for Juniata, they will head out on the road to face off against Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
