The Flinthills Mustangs lost against the Caldwell Bluejays back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Flinthills took a 49-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Caldwell. Flinthills has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Flinthills lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jake Hunter, who scored 13 points along with four steals. Hunter has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Farris, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds.
Caldwell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mak Blosser led the charge by scoring 24 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Blosser has scored all season. Jackson Risley was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Flinthills' loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Caldwell, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Flinthills will take on Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Flinthills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday. As for Caldwell, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against South Haven at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kansas (South Haven is ranked 268th, while Caldwell is ranked 280th).
