Softball Recap: Model Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

Model won the last time they faced Nicholas County and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Patriots walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Bluejackets. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Kendall Maggard made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Model let Aliyah Wever and Josie Williams run wild. Wever went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Williams went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Williams a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylli Hunt, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Model kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nicholas County only managed four hits.

Model's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Nicholas County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-18.

Coming up, Model is taking a road trip to square off against Paul Laurence Dunbar at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Nicholas County, they will host Pendleton County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
