The Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They strolled past Bunn with points to spare, taking the game 36-19. Roanoke Rapids' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Roanoke Rapids to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kara Baird, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Baird pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Shaniah Daniels, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Bunn's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Erin Tuohey, who scored nine points. Alana Sanders was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Roanoke Rapids' win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Bunn, they dropped their record down to 1-13 with that loss, which was their 15th straight on the road.
Roanoke Rapids will challenge Nash Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Nash Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for Bunn, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Warren County at 5:45 p.m. Warren County is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
