Baseball Recap: Mendon Unity's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Mendon Unity had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Bushnell-Prairie City Spartans with a sharp 18-6 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Adler Gray made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Mendon Unity let Ethan Triplett and Avery Frese run wild. Triplett went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Frese went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and one RBI. That's the most runs Triplett has posted since back in March. Brody Maynard also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Mendon Unity always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.

Mendon Unity's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. As for Bushnell-Prairie City, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-21.

Mendon Unity wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Liberty on the 25th. As for Bushnell-Prairie City, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-10 defeat against Biggsville West Central on the 25th.
