On Tuesday, Brookstone sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-39 win over Stratford Academy.
Brookstone's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carsyn Galligan, who scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. The contest was Galligan's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Yancey, who scored 13 points along with 3 steals.
Despite the loss, Stratford Academy saw an underclassman step up: Maggie Jamison scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Reagan Ray, who scored 8 points.
Brookstone's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Stratford Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Brookstone will be playing in front of their home fans against Kendrick at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kendrick will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Stratford Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Heritage presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Stratford Academy in Georgia (Heritage is ranked 63rd, while Stratford Academy is ranked 274th).
