Even though the Fort Bend Kempner Cougars have not done well against the Foster Falcons recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Fort Bend Kempner came out on top in a nail-biter against the Falcons and snuck past 56-54. Given Fort Bend Kempner's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Falcons are ranked 577th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Foster's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaron Martin, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and two steals. Michael Swanigan was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
The win was the third in a row for Fort Bend Kempner, bringing their record for this year to 21-7. As for Foster, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-18.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Bend Kempner will face off against the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Fulshear's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. As for Foster, they will head out on the road to challenge the Rangers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
