Hurricane (Utah) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as it ran for a touchdown with 6:00 to go, bringing the team to victory over
Dixie (St. George, Utah) 36-32.
The Flyers pulled ahead on a touchdown pass by
Blake Barney to
Drew Batchelor, and subsequently went into halftime leading 18-14. The Tigers scored the winning points with a touchdown run that came in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring 14 points in the third, Hurricane still trailed by 3 points going into the fourth quarter. But eight points in the fourth helped HHS pull out the victory.
Adam Thompson stood out for the Tigers in the win. The senior running back ran for one touchdown.
Dixie's Barney was the standout player for his team. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns. He has now scored nine touchdowns on the season.
When the two teams played each other last season, Hurricane came away with a 51-21 victory.
The loss comes after Dixie defeated Pine View 34-24 last week.
Hurricane (5-0) goes up against Snow Canyon in a 3A Region 9 game matchup next week, while Dixie (4-1) locks horns with Desert Hills also in a 3A Region 9 game.
