Lakeland and South Lyon are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.
Lakeland's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Milford 11-0. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Mavericks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
The result came thanks to Meredith Peterson's shutout, as she gave up just seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single walk in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emily Searle, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Noelle O'Dowd, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lakeland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 12 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, South Lyon posted their closest victory since June 8, 2024 on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Hartland.
Lakeland pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for South Lyon, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Lakeland skirted past South Lyon 2-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
