Chenango Valley is a perfect 10-0 against Seton Catholic Central since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Warriors will challenge the Saints at 5:00 p.m. Chenango Valley will be strutting in after a victory while Seton Catholic Central will be coming in after a defeat.
On Monday, Chenango Valley made easy work of Waverly and carried off a 13-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Natalie Tyler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Tyler was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Chenango Valley got a massive performance out of Makenzi Reinhard, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Caelyn Koch was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Seton Catholic Central came up short against Owego Free Academy on Monday and fell 8-4. The Saints have struggled against the River Hawks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.
Like Chenango Valley, Seton Catholic Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Olivia Nazarenus. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. Nazarenus has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Shannon Mentz was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Olivia Delviscio also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Seton Catholic Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Chenango Valley, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Seton Catholic Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Chenango Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .485. It's a different story for Seton Catholic Central, though, as they've only averaged .341. Will they be able to contain Chenango Valley's hitters?
