The Havelock Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against South Central, falling 65-25. Havelock has not had much luck with South Central recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Havelock's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Timayah Brown, who scored five points along with five rebounds and two steals. LaMya Frazier was another key contributor, scoring six points.
South Central was led to victory by Sabraya Baker and Kaelyn McCarter. Baker scored 12 points along with two steals, while McCarter scored 16 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McCarter has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brooklynne Evans, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Havelock has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for South Central, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 20-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Havelock will take on Northside - Jacksonville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northside - Jacksonville is coming into the game with 12 straight losses on the road, meaning Havelock will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for South Central, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Jacksonville at 6:30 p.m. Jacksonville is coming into the game with seven straight victories on the road, so South Central is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
