After flying high against the Garretson Blue Dragons on Tuesday, the Canton C-Hawks came back down to earth. Canton took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dakota Valley on Friday. Canton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Dakota Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Dakota Valley was led to victory by Cameryn Sommervold and Ella Otten. Sommervold scored 19 points, while Otten scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The game was Otten's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lexi Vaske, who scored three points.
Canton has fallen quite a ways from their 14-7 record last season and are now at 1-3. As for Dakota Valley, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.
Canton will be home for the holidays to greet Lennox at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Lennox is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Dakota Valley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Le Mars on December 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Le Mars is ranked 39th in Iowa, while Dakota Valley is ranked 30th in South Dakota).
