Softball Recap: Friday's Victory Is River Valley's Third in Last Four Outings

While River Valley didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Michigan Lutheran Titans on Friday by a score of 9-6 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Titans on Friday, they had to take a 9-6 defeat.

Ava Ledesma was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnna Rochefort, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

River Valley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Michigan Lutheran, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Valley will head out to square off against Eau Claire at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Michigan Lutheran, they will square off against Watervliet at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
