Baseball Recap: Mount Si's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Mount Si had lost five games straight , but after bumping their record up to 11-9 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Skyline Spartans. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wildcats have posted against the Spartans since April 19, 2022.

Owen Krasowski tossed a big game, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Mount Si is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 8-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Mount Si let Chase Mentink and Taylor Davis run wild. Mentink got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Davis got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Mentink a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Flores, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Mount Si hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

As for Skyline, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

On Skyline's side, they saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Evans, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount Si will square off against North Kitsap at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 4, the Vikings 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Skyline, they will be playing at home against Issaquah at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Eagles have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
